Sustainable Roofing for a Carbon-Free Campus

One of the standout features of Cardinal Campus is its commitment to being a carbon-free facility. Gluth Brothers Roofing was tasked with providing a roofing solution that aligned with these sustainability goals. Each roof is equipped to support solar photovoltaic panels, making the buildings capable of harnessing renewable energy. By carefully coordinating with the project’s general contractor, CORE Construction, we ensured that the roofing systems were designed to accommodate the unique requirements of solar integration without compromising durability and weather resistance.

Roofing Challenges & Solutions

Roofing for a LEED-certified, net-zero energy facility like the Veterinary Orthopedic Center (VOC) required careful planning and execution. Given the limited space available for solar panels, we worked closely with the construction and design teams to maximize the usable surface area on each roof. Our team provided custom solutions, including integrating solar panel supports over building entries, which helped extend the available area for solar installations.

High-Performance Roofing for Energy-Efficiency

The VOC’s emphasis on energy efficiency is a key component of the Cardinal Campus vision. Our roofing systems played a crucial role in supporting this goal. We used high-performance materials and ensured superior insulation. This approach not only helped reduce the facility’s energy use but also contributed to the building achieving net-zero energy status. The combination of solar capability and energy-efficient roofing underscores our commitment to providing sustainable, high-quality solutions.
